The Journey to Exams...

SWOTVAC...

The dreaded week where Uni finishes, and students get free reign over their time, in the lead up to Exams.

Knowing Us students, I bet most of us would be doing either:

  1. Procrastinating,
  2. Going to the Library as an Excuse to Chat,
  3. Ohhh... Lets have some fun before getting into study mode ( and waste the whole week, sort of like procrastinating)
  4. Or you spend your whole week reading up on stuff, and finally realising what Econometrics was all about! ( you reach enlightenment, becoming the Buddha of Econometrics )

PS: I'm not the Buddha of Econometrics, I actually wanna meet him, does anyone know where he is?

You never end up doing what you're supposed to do...

Hey, Funny thing is, at the time when everyone is supposed to sit down, concentrate, and study hard for exams, I did something quit the opposite.
I sat down, concentrated, AND, made a postcard.

Well, this postcard is going to be distributed to all the new international students during the Orientation period. So, what do you guys think?

Last day of Semester 1, 2005

Hubert Fong - Second Year Engineering ( Electrical & Electronics ) / Commerce, University of Melbourne.

Time: 12:18am
Date: 27th May 2005

18 minutes into the Last Day of Semester ONE...

Hmm... any last words?
Hubert (sane):
NOOOoooo... Don't let semester end... Don't let the exam period start... NOooo. DOn't let it happen!!
Hubert (INsane):
Hey! I'm so darn looking forward to the exam period! Studying, doing Past papers, Its AWEsome!

"Time flies when you're having stress", said a very stressed person a couple of days ago, and i agree...
The Crazy, Hectic, Psychotic days of Semester one is about to end! WOoHoo!
And Soon, the even more crazy, hectic and psychotic days of semester two will come! Great!

Being Busy is just so fun, eh? *ahem

Anyway, the thoughts of the day aside,
Guess what have I been spending my day doing?
Fun, Exciting stuFF? wow, I like your guess, I sure do, but reality is harsh.
I spent the past day extracting all the video from the past year of MUOSS activities, and there was this tape, which kept jamming, and it sure caused one hell of an annoyance.

Its during these times of frustration, that you look at the bright side of the day, like when my friends at Uni today, gave me a pleasant birthday surprise!

Nice! Thanks Peeps!

It was an ingenious plan, I must add, masterminded by Jessica Chung, I heard, and assisted by the top-notch lying skills of Darryl "Chin Cai!" Lim. Under the impression that the University was cancelling Festival of Nations (great lying, Darryl!), I ran to Uni for an emergency meeting.
And to think, that at that time, I was thinking that Darryl must be so stressed, by the sound of it. BUT, I wouldn't think that Festival of Nations would just be cancelled like that, to be honest, I figured Darryl, at that time, being a freshie, might have over-reacted to the news.

Oh... How wrong can you be. IT was an elaborate PLOT to get both of us ( Me and Corrinne, Me-31st, Corrinne-30th ), to Uni, such that they can surprise us with the cake. Man! I've just been had! And I had the embarassment of having 'tears' running down my cheek. (well, they were sweat, from running to Uni; but y'know, they just like to have something conveniently there, such that you can be accused of being emotional, how typical)

Well, the Tiramisu Cake was awesome!

Haha, I won't complain for a free cake, but good thing I escaped the office before anything 'physical' was done to me. (Pradeep and Tze Hou seemed to have some kind of bashing in mind)
Haha, Hopefully they don't remember.

All in all, it was a great day.

A week of UPs and Downs

Haih, Guys, did you know that,
Every year, I have to celebrate my birthday during SWOTVAC...
What a bummer...

It's always, Birthday? or study, birthday? or study... Talk about priorities...

Well, Its two days to go before Jocelyn's birthday,
And Exactly One week till mine!

But it sure is good this year to have friends who are still willing to celebrate with me. Wonder what's happening this time around... Well, its not a surprise anymore, so...
Still, I'm looking forward to it, heh!

And while we're still on UPs,

I'll let all of you guys have a look at my new revved up PC!
Gotta say, I don't think there's another one to match within a a city block!
Its Freaking AWESOME!

Left: Front View - There's even lighting on the front panel!
Right: Panel View - A total Beast!

Well, I'm putting it next to my Old computer for the moment,
Doesn't my room look like some workbench or something?

Sunday... the calm times before the hectic weekdays

With one week left of Semester, Its time to start those gears, and enter exam mode!!

But before that, I still have two more assignments, One for Intro. Econometrics, and another for Engineering Analysis A. Geez, Why can't there be less assignments?

Well, seems that My newly arrived computer still needs to stay where it is, on the table, unassembled, parts everywhere, with books of manuals in between. Ahhh... I just can't want to get a new case and see it spur to life!

Oh while we're still on the topic on new acquisitions, I've also went to Melbourne Central today, and bought a few clothes, in mind of the upcoming Winter Months. And hey, I realised, that today's the first day in this year, that I've actually bought anything in Melbourne!
(the Computer doesn't count, its from overseas, and neither do Food, movies, and the like)

Haha, anyway, Its Jocelyn's birthday soon, so I better get something ready for the big Day!
(I'm not giving anything away just yet!)

A year of CCMs (Central Commitee Meetings), the yearlong journey is now, unfortunately, over... But, Time to look forward to another new term!!

Thursday, May 19, 2005

It has been confirmed!

Well, Seems that what I said was absolutely correct. Meeting after meeting, there's advice to give everywhere! Can't blame the new dudes tho, they still have to learn!

It sure brings a sense of nostalgia though, rememberin when it was my own turn at being the clueless freshie, who had no idea what's going on.

But still, This time around, there is something really missing. What's missing, is SPIRIT. There's all these passionate people around, but, its all cooped up inside, nothing is bringing this new group of people together, and nothing is pushing them along! Well, from the sidelines, I can't let this happen. I'm going to do what I can to make sure this new term is going to be the Absolute best ever!

As well, I am so glad that I'm off the hook with MCS. Back in those days, Sure was wierd, in after-thought, at why I got involved with it in the first place. The president Albert, (apart from being a smoker) projected a certain 'wierd' atmosphere into the commitee. Still, I wish them all the best, with the Movie night tonight, and the future. Hopefully they'll be able to break free from a seedy little commitee into one which makes everyone proud to join, and carries the pride of Malaysians.

All the best dudes!

Current thought: Ahhh Shiet, better start finishing off my Econometrics Assignment.

Transitions...

Do you believe in different lives within your own life itself?

If there was such an idea, I must be ending one, while another one is starting.
( sounds like a love-sick puppy, eh? )

Anyway, Sure is wierd, at one end of the stick, everything is ending, cases are closed, reports are being filed, and the weight off people's backs seem to be easing.

YET, on the other end, everything is starting, People are gettin excited, And stress is on the rise. There's all these freshies learning the ropes, and being the old-timer around the place, There's probably going to be TONs of work set out fer moi, I'm certain!

Still, Life sure is exciting! Hopefully it never Stops!

Beginerations

IDeas Ideas Ideas, Where do Ideas come from?
Do they come from the cosmic rubbish receptacle in the sky?
Or do they just pop up, like a cartoon-esque light-bulb above our heads??

Oh well, No 'idea' where This IDEA came from, but I've suddenly had the Idea to start a Blog.

Hopefully it lasts!
